Re-opening of musée Cernuschi on March 4, 2020
The Musée Cernuschi will re-open on March 4, 2020 with a redesigned permanent exhibition and new museography.
The Musée Cernuschi has been open to the public for more than 120 years. It has a collection of nearly 14,000 Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean objects.
When the current refurbishment is finished, the museum will re-open in the spring of 2020 with a redesigned permanent exhibition and new museography.
The former presentation, focusing on the large collections of Chinese archaeology, will be extended chronologically to provide a vision of China that includes the modern era, with perspectives on inter‑Asian exchanges thanks to the museum’s unique Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese collections.

The museum will also have a space devoted to Henri Cernuschi’s personal collection, as well as a new display room for Asian paintings.

A new approach to mediation
The new approach to mediation, which is at the heart of the project, will involve a range of features, particularly digital tools, to add contextualization and greater interactivity to the visitor experience – in keeping with the museum’s commitment to providing optimum conditions for the visitor to discover Asian art from the past and the present.
